I was touched to receive this email letter this morning from Marilyn Kay Wargo regarding our Petition and actions to get America’s Wild Horses & Burro’s listed on the Endangered Species List.

“This needs to be done. The Native Horses and wild mustangs and our equines who are barely surviving an onslaught of violence and life altering attacks from those who would take lands from beneath their hooves, lands they evolved upon and that people want them to have to continue life and natural selection here in North America. Protection is necessary and law needs to stop the profound destruction of the herds of genetically diverse and ancient bloodlines. These are magnificent beasts that have influenced civilizations and the history of man. We have lost so many, illegally and treacherously from by those who want their lands that we the people want them to occupy. They need the land to have a future. Removing the herds from their lands is destroying their claim to the future here where they evolved. This is home to the them. They belong. They are good for the land and contribute balance to plants, water sources, other species who evolved along with them. The destruction of the native horse herds is not a natural action and it is detrimental to life on these sacred lands. Detrimental to balance and natural selection and the survival of all within these habitats that evolved with the herds. The value of the land is seen through corporate eyes and not understood as it is seen through wild eyes. Protecting these apex herbivores upon their lands is a need to ensure a future there of species that create a full ecosystem that allows life to flourish and succeed for generations to come. We are losing too much of the wild and must stop to protect it now. Save our Native Horses and the lands that nourish them”.
